Lucky 13 designs are released under a few different licenses. You can always check what license a model uses at the bottom of its official download page on Printables. This page gives an overview of the licenses I commonly use.
If you have questions about license terms, please contact licensing@lucky13toys.com. (AFTER you have read this page!)
This is the default license that applies to anything released online. I mostly use this for paid models.
Models using the Standard License are for personal use only: you bought the files, and they're just for you. You are not allowed to share the files with another person, upload them to another website, or sell prints of them to other people.
Creative Commons (CC) licensing is a way to relax the default copyright terms, to allow people to share and adapt digital work. This is what allows people to remix Lucky 13 models!
There are several different CC licenses, based on how the creator wants their work to be shared. There are two CC licenses that I commonly use.
This license allows you to share and remix the model it's attached to, as long as you follow these rules:
Attribution: You must properly credit the source. The Creative Commons websites has a guide to giving good attribution.
Non-commercial: You cannot use the design commercially. That means no selling prints or making paid remixes.
Share-alike: Any time you share or adapt the files -- whether reuploading them to another site, uploading your remix, or sharing them in any other way -- you must post them with the same license. This ensures that the files continue to be shared in the same spirit of community and collaboration.
This license only requires attribution. As long as you give proper credit, you are allowed to use the files how you want, including commercially. But please please please give proper credit when you do so!
Under the Standard License and some Creative Commons licenses, commercial use is not allowed.
However, I also recognize that Lucky 13 models are quite popular, and there is a market for printed models that I can't satisfy all on my own. That is why I use a subscription-based Seller License system.
Commercial use of paid Lucky 13 models is enabled through Seller Licenses. These are handled through my Printables Club.
There are two tiers of Seller License available.
Limited Seller License: $25/month, sell up to 100 units total from the paid models available in my Printables Store.
Extended Seller License: $50/month, sales are not limited.
You must have an active Seller License of the appropriate level for as long as your store is active.
The Seller License applies to selling physical prints, whether online or in-person. You may not resell the digital files in any circumstance.
You may not "rebrand" the models under a different name. For digital sellers, your product page and all promotional materials must state clearly that the design is sourced from Lucky 13 Toys and link to lucky13toys.com. For in-person sellers, you must include some signage that indicates the source of the design. In all cases, the product packaging should include the same attribution.
You must engage in fair competition with other sellers. You may not harass, "review bomb," or threaten other sellers in any way. You may not imply any exclusive agreement with Lucky 13 Toys.
You may not obtain any trademark, patent, or other legal protection on the design. All these rights are reserved by the original designer.
If you are found to be in violation of the terms of the Seller License, your license may be suspended or revoked.
